This week, Prasiddhi gave a talk with a slightly controversial title, “Why Meditate?”
Whilst he addressed the times where meditation may not be helpful, he mainly talked about the extent to which having purpose in mind may be helpful in the long-term.
He particularly talked about a way of setting up meditation which was very popular years ago. The acronym PIPER is used to remind meditators of posture, introspection, purpose, enthusiasm, and resolve.
He went on to talk about the myth of meditation, particularly as exemplified in the story of the Buddha’s enlightenment, a story that enriches and feeds our spiritual- and everyday – lives.
After a very helpful discussion with the group, he then led a guided meditation, recollecting the Buddha at his time of enlightenment
