’Zen’ thoughts

,

Enlightenment is the great mystery and is the ‘goal’ of Buddhism.  The mystery continues when we realise that there is no goal, no Buddhist and no enlightenment!

At the Stockport group we approached this paradox with an exploration of Zen Buddhism and their presentations of the Great Void.  Paranayaka gave an intriguing talk which included references to greasy flagpoles, ox-herding and ikebana (the Japanese art of flower arrangement).

It is always interesting to learn how thorough Sangharakshita was, in his presentation of the Dharma. It’s also interesting to note just how the essence of other Buddhist traditions can be found within his presentation.

Bridie led us in a Metta Bhavana and the evening concluded with the ‘Morning Puja’.
